What is it about?

With the increasing number of students in colleges and universities, maintaining a library using the traditional management systems is too complex and time consuming. In order to get rid of this situation in most of the middle level countries like Bangladesh, an automated digital library management system has been evolved. The main features of the library management software are user interactive graphical representation of the total number of books requested, books up‐loaded, yearly books count, etc. The main contribution of this chapter is the description of the software which has three modules: student, librarian and admin. These modules have unique features of searching the library books with either the title, author's name, subject, ISBN/ISSN, etc. The interfaces of the software are shown as images in the chapter which is an abstraction that may be developed on the available mobile operating system like iOS, Android, etc. The interfaces are designed keeping in mind that they will be used on cross platform environments fulfilling minimum requirements using the Internet of Things available in the market. Furthermore, the overall information is preserved with the help of cloud storage while keeping the parallel options for physical storage on the destination master computer. The cloud‐based system has given the library management a new dimension while giving a new feature referred as “management on the go” as a web or abstract GUI.
