This entry describes the academic features associated with the term "Indigenous studies" as an interdisciplinary field of study, involving anthropology, sociology,history, literature, political science, and gender studies. It is known as such mainly in US academia, although there are similar approaches all over the world. It explores the relationship with Native American Studies/American Indian Studies (NAS/AIS) and Ethnohistory.
