What is it about?

There are four core themes to the book; innovation, understanding trends, data analysis/methods, linking datasets will provide many food security solutions. however, these must be placed into the context of many people and specialist studies that have already made great progress in alleviating hunger. This progress must not stop or slow-down and the engagement of the food industry is critical to this process. The GFSS book explains this and shows a route to solutions that can be enacted by students, industry and policy.

Why is it important?

So many descriptions of the challenge of food security exist without considering the expertise held by the food industry in understanding and developing resource efficient supply chains. This book places these understandings into the food security debate for students, industry and policy.

Perspectives

My first book, published by Wiley. I felt the book summarises a lot of the agri-food industry ideas that influenced me and I have used in my teaching of people who now operate at senior level in industry or policy. The focus is that the food supply chain can provide many of the food security solutions we require. The industry must be bold in communicating this to people who can make this happen. The supply chain is the focus, the second book I am writing develops this idea to make the meal the focus of solutions.
