What is it about?

Eukaryotic genes can be broadly classified as TATA‐containing and TATA‐less based on the presence of TATA box [TATAWAWR] in their promoter sequences. This work gives details of similarities and difference in these two classes by using DNA sequence based structural properties.

Why is it important?

The structural feature analyses reveal that while the two classes of gene promoters are distinctly different from each other, the properties are also distinguishable across the six organisms yeast, fly, worm, fish, mouse, and human.

Perspectives

This work may be a significant update in promoter biology
