What is it about?

Satellite observations are blended with in situ observations in ERSST, but do not show significant impact on reconstructed SST and its global trends.

Why is it important?

Satellite observations will not change the significance of the SST warming trends.

Perspectives

Satellite observations need to be homogenized before blending with in situ observations. The homogenized satellite SSTs are very consistent with in situ SSTs. Therefore, the SST trend are consistent with or without including satellite SSTs.
