What is it about?

Antenna arrays in the state-of-the-art technology need to be optimized for the best performance in terms of radiation characteristics. However, these optimization problems can be difficult to solve if the arrays are modeled accurately by considering all mutual couplings between elements. This paper is on a computationally-intensive approach for optimizing complex antenna arrays.

Why is it important?

The optimization results are obtained by using a full-wave approach, leading to highly accurate analysis of antenna arrays without resorting to ideal (analytical) and approximate techniques. The presented simulations demonstrate the feasibility of such full-wave optimizations, thanks to the computational power of MLFMA.
