What is it about?

Topographic effects on co-seismic gravity change, and comparison with GRACE satellite gravimetry observations.

Why is it important?

Topographic effects on co-seismic gravity change can not be neglected in GRACE study of earthquake deformation.

Perspectives

This paper points out that the topographic effects from both seawater and solid earth will contribute to the co-seismic gravity change of large earthquakes. The effects are partly responsible for the discrepancy between model prediction and GRACE observations.
