What is it about?

In case coders have to classify independently from each other data on a nominal scale one can at the end measure how far these coders agree in classifying. The paper describes what is meant by nominal scale agreement and discusses indices that are used for this measurement and also discusses some extensions of the index so that it can also be used in more complex research situations tan the ones where only assignments by two coders are compared.

Why is it important?

Coding is very hard, usually there is no correct answer, only a best answer. It is important to know that independent coders would come to the same best answer.
