What is it about?
In July 2021 a severe Hailstorm affected the village of Kibworth in Leicestershire. 75mm of rain fell in just 90 minutes and huge hailstones for the Uk also fell up to 5cm in diameter. Fantastic photographs taken by the residents of Kibworth of the event are included. It was the most severe storm in Leicestershire for 9 years and caused substantial damage to cars and buildings in the village all of which are illustrated.

Why is it important?
Hailstones of 5cm in diameter are very rare as was the rate of rainfall 75mm falling in 90 minutes. What makes article so fascinating are the excellent photographs taken by the residents at the time. A really interesting read that has been well received by everyone in the meteorological community.
Perspectives
As an amateur weather forecaster in Leicestershire this was a very exciting and rare event as photos were sent to me straight to my Twitter account @rothleyweather. An enjoyable read for all concerned. This easy to read article is easily accessible by both amateurs and professionals alike!
