(Ultrasound Obstet Gynecol. 2017;50(2):272-3) described an atypical arteriovenous (AV) placental vascular anastomosis in a patient with selective intrauterine growth restriction type II undergoing laser surgery. We submit that the anastomosis in question actually corresponds to an arterio-arterial (AA) anastomosis with a visible hemodynamic equator.
