What is it about?
Using very simple modified Al complexes (containing the fragment of unsaturated alkohol) as initiators of ROP of lactones gives opportunity to synthesize macromonomers. Macromonomers are polymeric compounds which have at the end of the molecule a group suitable for further polymerization in another way (for example, radical polymerization).

Why is it important?
This an almost new synthetic strategy to obtain unique polymeric materials with useful properties.
Perspectives
It may be proposed that new polymer materials may be synthesized using our approach. New metal complexes related to presented in this article would be synthesized and investigated.
