What is it about?

The work is a summary of the commissioning process of the electron Monte Carlo dose calculation engine in the hospital, using a set of detectors on an Elekta Linac, giving the reader an alternative method to film dosimetry for the commissioning of electron beams for energies as low as 4 MeV.

This technique is the only technique combined with film dosimetry for the validation of electron beam treatments and can help in the mutual comparisons when problems occur.

Perspectives

This publication is the start of process were electron beam treatments can be accurately predicted, similar to foton treatments. More complex techniques are now in evaluation to increase the number of applications using electron beams.
