What is it about?
The presence of free water or fuel-water emulsion in the aviation fuels permit the proliferation of microorganisms in the medium, with favors mechanisms of corrosion in the material of the storage tanks, of the distribution pipelines, in the interfaces surfaces of the fuel system of the aircraft and also the degradation of fuel characteristics and properties. Aiming to reduce corrosion and adhesion of microorganisms in fuel tanks, this work focused on the development of a diamond-like carbon coating (DLC), with and without silver nanoparticles, non-reactive to the fuels QAV-1 (JET A-1) and AVGAS 100LL and its additives.
