What is it about?
Hydrothermal carbonization of sewage sludge allows to valorize it. Moreover, the liquid fraction of hydrothermal carbonization (LFHTC) characterized for a high chemical oxygen demand can be also valorized, to recover the organic matter which remains in this fraction (up to 15% of initial carbon)

Why is it important?
Our finding show that anaerobic digestion of the liquid fraction of hydrothermal carbonization increases the valorization obtained with the hydrochar
Perspectives
This article is the first one on anaerobic digestion of the liquid fraction of hydrothermal carbonization of sewage sludge, a relatively new technology; hopefully it will be developed in the future
