Why is it important?

This report is a first case to identify lymphatic ducts in the tracheoesophageal groove during central neck dissection. Our findings may help in the recognition and treatment of this uncommon complication during or after central neck dissection in patients with thyroid cancer.

Perspectives

There have been no English reports on identification of lymphatic channels during central neck dissection. This finding will aid in the recognition and treatment of this uncommon complication, chyle leakage, during or after central neck dissection in patients with thyroid cancer.
