What is it about?

Accurate wind speed and power forecasting can mitigate the challenges of high wind penetration levels and help in integrating more wind power into the grid. The application of wind forecasts and the methodology and data used to develop these depends on the timescale. This study proposes a generic statement on how to classify the timescales, and further presents different applications of these forecasts across the entire wind power value chain.

Why is it important?

We define a generic way to classify timescales in wind forecasting, which helps to determine the methodology and data used to develop these forecasts depends on the timescales and application.
