What is it about?

We present an broad overview of compounds with potential to treat Alzheimer's disease by means of the alternative strategy approached in this work, i.e., allosteric mechanism with key targets related to such neurodegenerative disease. Their structures and biological activities are described along with several literature indications.

Why is it important?

This review is important because it helps to contributing to further research and development of new drug candidates to treat AD. Especifically, it fulfills an evident need for gathering information on the topic of allosteric modulation of AD-targets, which is a promissing therapeutic strategy.


The process of reading, reviewing and describing the many works in the literature on this topic, seeking to compile the most relevant information, was very enriching and extremely useful. This theme, approached in this unprecedented way, brings this information in a simple and easy to understand way, and I hope that this work becomes properly disseminated within the area, in proportion to its potential.
