What is it about?
In cacao breeding, the plants are evaluated for a long time before selecting for recombination or recommendation. In our work, we show that few harvests are necessary to perform an accurate selection. We also select the best genotype for bean yield and resistance to witches' broom using a model with heterogeneous residual effects.

Why is it important?
By adopting our proposal, the breeder can save time, money and increase the genetic gain per time unit. In addition, we showed that considering the residual heterogeneity is a more realistic approach, providing more accurate selections.
