Why is it important?
Pain, fatigue and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis impact patient's lives on a daily basis. Disease activity often fluctuates but how changes in disease activity relate to being physically active is unclear. This study demonstrates that even when RA disease is controlled, patients tend to remain physically inactive, which can place them at greater risk for heart disease. Understanding factors that influence physical activity in adults with rheumatoid arthritis can help inform interventions to motivate physical activity participation.
