New method for particle size analysis of soils

What is it about?

This article explains the theoretical base of PARIO, a new apparatus for the automated detrmination of the particle sie destribution of soils by the sedimentaiton method. Contrary to pipette and hydrometer method, the new method leads to no disturbance of the settling process and requires no manual interaction.

Why is it important?

Traditional particle-size aalysis o fsoil by the sedimentatio method requires skilled personal and is time consuming and thus expensive, and furthermore prone to manual errors. The new method can be fully atomated and needs no mechanical operation.
