Why is it important?
Store-and-forward teledermatology is cost-effective when used as a triage mechanism to reduce face-to-face appointments. The cost-effectiveness of this telederm method increases when patients are required to travel farther distances to access dermatology services.
Perspectives
Current evidence is sparse but suggests that store-and-forward teledermatology can be cost-effective. Independent of this sparse evidence store-and-forward teledermatology will further emerge as the possibilities and consequences of consumer self-capturing and transmitting images will increase.
