Research Consulting

Research contract management is a critical function for all research-active universities. Since 2013, Research Consulting has designed and managed a series of reviews identifying common practices, resourcing levels, trends and challenges facing contracts teams both in the UK and internationally. This page brings together a collection of our research contracts reviews that can be used to assist those managing research contracts functions in making evidence-based decisions.
The volume and complexity of research contracts is rapidly increasing. At the same time, research funders, external partners and businesses are seeking greater value from their university relationships. This has meant that research contracts teams in universities have found themselves under growing pressure to manage additional demand. This work aims to support research contracts staff to continue to facilitate collaboration between organisations, the transfer of funds for R&D and due diligence to ensure the inherent risks of collaboration are managed.
