What is it about?
The Catalan children's author Josep Vallverdú published the novels Les raons de Divendres (Friday's Reasons) (2003) and El testament de John Silver (John Silver's Will) (2007), two teen novels. These books are based on Robinson Crusoe and Treasure Island, but the story is explained from a different point of view or it retells different facts from the original.

Why is it important?
This paper explores for the first time how a Catalan writer transforms two canonical novels such as Treasure Island and Robinson Crusoe, through transposition into a contemporary context, an interacting between Catalan literature and English literature.
Perspectives
This paper is part of the results obtained in my doctoral thesis, focused on the literary work by Josep Vallverdú. I find this topic very appealing because it links the chapters of my thesis about young readers' literature by Vallverdú and his work as a translator (before writing the two sequels, he translated Treasure Island into Catalan and abridged Robinson Crusoe).
