Mechanical Regulation of Retinal Vascular Inflammation and Degeneration in Diabetes

What is it about?

We show that retinal capillaries become stiffer in diabetes that, in turn, promotes vascular inflammation and degeneration. These findings bring mechanical signaling at par with biochemical signaling in significance for the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy.
