What is it about?
Radio production companies established to produce content for BBC Radio are increasingly producing podcasts and other forms of audio content for other clients, or sustaining that work through advertising. This article explores the changing landscape of UK audio production.

Why is it important?
The interviews and research for this article show how podcasting is becoming mainstream and a viable source of revenue for producers who traditionally have been orientated towards the BBC and other broadcasters. I would argue that these trends outline a new economy of audio production that is indicative of the status of the podcast medium.
