What is it about?
What can be reasonably meant when one speaks of artistic behaviour in the field of music? The text identifies some criteria and characteristics for this and shows that they can be found early on, especially in young children. Teachers can use appropriate methods to promote artistic behaviour in children. In doing so, they can address various basic motivations of children.

Why is it important?
Artistic behaviour in the field of music is often associated with expertise and virtuosity. However, a closer look shows that the seeds of art can already be found in childhood. If one is aware of this, one can promote it accordingly!
Perspectives
In my work on early childhood music education, I have long tended to see this as the seed of artistic behaviour. For me, it was important to underpin this with plausible categories. A pleasing result was that these correspond to basic motivations of children.
