What is it about?
Using examples of my own work the article explores connections between traditional and digital printmaking techniques, relationships to collage, layering, photographs, video and sound; the relationship between memory, place and time and whether a less self- expressive approach allows for a more universal context and connection through shared experience.

Why is it important?
Traditional and digital printmaking practice and techniques are still often seen as being in opposition. I believe there's a deeper tradition of acceptance of the new within printmaking history. All printmaking techniques should be seen as complementary rather than contradictory.
