Why is it important?
Hoarding disorder is difficult to manage; it demands coordinated efforts from different actors and strong collaboration with service-users. The organization of primary mental health care in Quebec permits service users to be actors of changes in management of hoarding disorder and to create effective collaboration with other involved intervenors. This initiative could profitably offer guidelines for other communities facing hoarding disorder challenges.
Perspectives
There are the mental health issues that demand coordinated collaborative efforts of actors of different domains to prevent new cases or to alleviate the existing burden. It is important that these efforts will be guided by service users - peer-partners. The leaderships of service-users - peer partners will ensure a holistic approach in interventions and respect for their dignity, autonomy, and needs.
