What is it about?
The addictions are associated with major risk of psychiatric comorbidity, and this can cause worse treatment engagement and outcomes. Sex differences in these comorbidities are unclear, due to the difficulty in understanding prior studies that use different populations and methods. In this study of a large national community clinic data set, we found specific patterns of sex-related comorbidity in persons with either opioid, alcohol or cannabis use disorder and comorbidities such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia and trauma disorders.
