What is it about?

The current opioid epidemic in America is a major complication associated with the prescription of opioids for pain management. A common proposal to address this epidemic is to use medical cannabis as a substitute for opioid prescriptions. While this article reveals a complicated and perhaps alarming association between cannabis use and future opioid abuse, it seems that there are some confounding variables which have been downplayed by the authors.
