Often, further workup in the geriatric psychiatry unit is omitted. We have found multiple cases of mild hypercalcemia on our geriatric psychiatry unit.

Why is it important?

Proper diagnosis of this phenomenon can lead to improved treatment and potentially decrease the psychiatric symptoms associated with mild hypercalcemia. This is especially essential in the geriatric population and in cases of dementia where history from the patient is variable.
